Flaxseeds

Flaxseeds are small, flat, oval-shaped seeds that come in two varieties: brown and golden. Both types have a hard, shiny shell and a mild, nutty flavor. They are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, and lignans, making them a popular superfood.

In cooking, flaxseeds can be used whole, ground, or as flaxseed oil. Ground flaxseeds are often added to smoothies, cereals, baked goods, and yogurt to boost nutritional content. Whole seeds can be sprinkled on salads or added to bread dough for texture. Flaxseeds are also used as a vegan egg substitute by mixing ground seeds with water. Besides culinary uses, flaxseeds are known for their health benefits, particularly for digestion, heart health, and reducing inflammation.
